Joint support to LED office development in small municipalities
Dated March 5 in the City Hall of Kragujevac the joint cooperation of the cities of Kragujevac, Zrenjanin, Municipality of Pećinci and Center for Equal Regional Development - CenTriR on the implementing the project “out joint mission-small LED Offices on the way to Big Success“. The project is financially supported by the Fund for Open Society Serbia.
It was only when a new Law on Local Governemnt was adopted in 2007. that local governments were given the authority to operate the affairs of local economic development which put Serbia almost at the bottom of the countries of the Western Balkans regarding this transfer of competence. However, some progressive local governments at the time immediately recognized the importance and opportunity for their local development and opened LED Offices. The cities of Kragujevac and Zrenajnin, and Municipality of Pećinci have achieved significant results during the last several years. Therefore they have been invited as project partners regarding local economic development to transfer their experiences to less developed regions and municipalities.
On the other hand, a large number of municipalities in Serbia still has not recognized the significance of the instruments of local economic development including 9 municipalities that are going to be engaged in this project, aiming to the strengthening the capacities of their LED offices
The Project will also contribute to networking of LED Offices in Serbia and further strengthening of civil society.
At the press conference the representatives of the joint partners were present: Zoran Kuzmanović, Head of City Administration Kragujevac for economy, sport and sport infrastructure, Vanesa Belkić, Executive Director of Center for Equal Regional Development- CenTriR, Radivoj Milošević, Director of Agency for Development of Pećinci Municipality , Jelena Rikalo, Senior association for domestic and foreign management, City Administration Zrenjanin.
