Mayor's reception for the winner of ''Spartak'' award Milan Kovačević

 Karate referee Milan Kovačević from Zrenjanin is the winner of this year's  "Jovan Mikić Spartak" award, which is given to best sportsmen/sportswomen, sport  workers and competitors form AP Vojvodina. "Spartak" award was established in 1967 and is the most recognized sport award  of the Province. The winner was honoured at the reception by the Mayor of,  Ivan Bošnjak, M.Sc. and the member of the City Council Zlatana Ankić. Milan Kovačević, the first referee from Serbia who was appointed the world  kata and fight referee at 20th World Senior Championship in Belgrade, in October 2010.  
 
   
 
Kovačević said that he had been in karate sport for 39 years as a competitor, trainer and referee, and that the  was  appointed a referee after  seven years as international referee
 
Congratulating him the Mayor said that world acknowledgements and awards of our citizen  can be only supported by the City  too, particularly if the results and quality speak for themselves, not a corruption, politics etc. – said the Mayor. 
 
 
The member of the City Council, in charge of sport, youth and regional cooperation and  European Integrations Zlatana Ankić, the former winner of this award for karate too, pointed out the qualities of Milan Kovačević as a man. 
- Milan is educated and good sport worker and he is a very modest man and in karate he achieved more  than any  other referee from Serbia. This award is a  recognition of  his work and success and you  can get this ward only once in life – said Zlatana Ankić. 
 
 
Up to now 882 sportsmen and sportswomen were awarded with this award. The members of the jury were Darko Parežanin, Chairman of Management Board of port Alliance of Vojvodina. On behalf of Provincial Secretariat for Youth and Sport the awarded were handed by Provincial Secretary Marinika Čobanu.
