Skupstinagrada Zrenjanina''Back to the Future'' one of the most successful projects of cross border cooperation
Beside Suzana Grubješić and Milan Pajević, the Director of the Office for EU Integration, Vensan Deger, Head of the EU Delegation in the Republic of Serbia, Sanda Šimić, Director Assistant of the Office for EU Integrations, Mark Baret, Project Coordinator Technical support to the first level control and support to implementation of cross border cooperation and Ognjen Mirić, Deputy Director and Coordinator for EU funds of the Office for EU Integrations.
Project "Back to the Future" presents a new approach to the development of the alternative energy resources which are very important for the improvement of quality of living of people in border area of Serbia and Romania, and one part of the Project is implemented in the Primary School "Jovan Cvijić".
Predrag Stankov, Deputy Manager of the Project and Chief of Project section in Zrenjanin City Administration says that the most important is that the plans are achieved and project implemented.
- Training on alternative energy resources are organised in primary schools for pupils and teachers as well as in Zrenjanin public institutions, and one part of the Project is implemented in the Primary School "Jovan Cvijić", some eighty fields are replaced so that utilisation effect of heat is higher, i.e. cooling in summer, what is essential, heating pumps are built in and in two weeks Electrical Energy Distribution Company will connect the facility to electrical energy network, a completely new boiler room is built, and the whole system is adjusted – said Stankov emphasing that CO2 emission will be zero, which is one of the benefit of this project, and another one is energy saving.
Zlatana Ankić reminded that it was the second time that Zrenjanin City was awarded for cross-border projects.
The programmes of cross-border and transnational cooperation are an EU instrument for support to border areas of neighbouring countries. Now Serbia has cross-border cooperation with Macedonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Croatia, Adriatic programme and “Southern eastern Europe” programme.. IPA funds planned for our country during the period 2007. to 2013. are more than 81 million Euro. So far in eight programmes more than 2500 project proposals have been submitted including about 1000 institutions from all over Serbia. By the end 2012. more than 500 projects will be contracted and implemented in the Republic of Serbia.
